Nine of the "Top 50 Start-ups 2018" come from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), according to an evaluation by the German magazine for start-up founders Für-Gründer.de. Munich, with ten start-ups, is the highest-rated city this ranking. Also a current report by business consulting firm Ernst & Young illustrates how attractive the Bavarian State capital is: With 14 start-ups in the Top 100, Munich has moved up to second place in this ranking list. Ten of these 14 companies were started by founders from TUM.

Campus Information

Munich

Since its founding in 1868, the heart of TUM beats in Munich. Its presence within the city is divided among three important sites: the downtown campus at Arcisstraße, Olympic Park, and the university hospitals.

Garching

The Garching campus north of Munich constitutes the center of natural sciences and technology at TUM. With more than 12,000 students at five Faculties, it is the largest of all TUM locations. Also focused on top-level research at this campus are the TUM Institute for Advanced Study, TUM Graduate School and the Munich School of Engineering (MSE). The center of Garching is easy to reach from downtown Munich with the subway line U6 or via the Autobahn

Weihenstephan

Scientists at TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan are engaged in interdisciplinary research in the life sciences. The campus is located on the outskirts of the old cathedral town of Freising and has evolved from the traditional disciplines of agricultural and life sciences

Straubing

Since October 2017, the Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability is the fourth main research and study campus of the university.

Heilbronn
