Bioinformatics and Computational Biology BS - Biological Sciences Concentration
The Department of Biological Sciences is the campus center for life sciences innovative learning activity and leading-edge research at the University at Buffalo. Housed within the Department of Biological Sciences, the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB) program is an interdisciplinary program that provides students with training in biological sciences, mathematics, and computing that are needed to the elucidate the molecular entities that govern biological organization at all levels, from molecules to ecosystems. Students qualify for the Bachelor of Science degree in BCB by successfully completing courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and computer science, followed by a research project guided by a UB faculty member. Students have the option to specialize in one of the three program sub-areas, Biological Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, or Biomedical Informatics.

To be eligible for graduate study at UB, we expect:
- A bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all.
- A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions.
