Criminology, Bachelor of Arts
Criminology is the study of crimes, criminals, crime victims, theories explaining illegal and deviant behavior, the social reaction to crime and criminals, the effectiveness of anti-crime policies and the broader political terrain of social control. The major contains courses in sociology, other social science disciplines and the humanities. Students who are planning to attend graduate or professional schools and students who are currently working in criminal justice or other public service fields as well as those planning to do so in the future will find this major of interest.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Freshman applicants are also required to submit:
- All secondary school transcripts and official English translations if these documents are in another language (evaluations are not required)
- Copies of secondary school diplomas and official English translations if these documents are in another language (evaluations are not required)
If you are a citizen of a country where English is not the official language, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Have your scores sent directly to CUNY Admissions. Our code is 2950. A score of 500 is required for the paper-based test; 173 for the computer-based test and 61 for the internet-based test. Students can also take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) PTE Academic or Duolingo. A score of 6 is required on the IELTS, 44 on the PTE Academic, or 90 on Duolingo.
