Master of Advanced Clinical Physiotherapy (Sports)

You’ll complete a range of core courses in evidence-based practice, advanced clinical theory and advanced physiotherapy practice.You’ll also have the opportunity to tailor your selected study to your individual learning and career objectives with streams in:-

Job Opportunity Potential

Sports physiotherapists assess and treat sports and other injuries in field and outpatient settings. They need quick decision-making skills to triage injuries during events; to perform pre-season screening; and to develop injury prevention strategies for teams and individuals. When travelling with sports teams, the sports physiotherapist needs management, organisation and leadership skills.

UniSA’s master’s degree combined with membership of the Australian Physiotherapy Association means titled sports physiotherapists can typically work in private practice in primary health care, in consultancy practices, and with sporting teams or organisations. These environments vary across:

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are required to have:

  • completed a Bachelor degree level, or equivalent professional entry level qualification, from a recognised higher education institution, in Physiotherapy; AND
  • a minimum 10 months full-time, or equivalent, physiotherapy practice in a relevant field following completion of the professional entry level qualification; AND
  • met the requirements for eligibility for registration as a physiotherapist or limited registration under supervision with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Students must apply for limited registration after acceptance into the program.
