Nurse-Midwifery (MS)

The University of Colorado Nurse-Midwifery (NMW) Program prepares the next generation of midwives to lead and transform the delivery of women's healthcare for the women of Colorado and the world, through excellence in clinical practice, education and research.

It is our goal to lead the nation in midwifery education, through clinical and teaching excellence, scholarship, leadership, and interprofessional endeavors. We accomplish this objective in the following ways:

Education: We offer coursework accessible to Colorado and the Mountain West. Our clinical faculty practice sites provide quality clinical education, and our program provides students with clinical placements in metro Denver and throughout Colorado. As the program seeks to offer quality education to the Mountain West, we will work with students to locate clinical placements in bordering states.
Clinical Practice: Our midwifery faculty practices serve the women of our community through the provision of quality care, and they serve the students of CU through quality clinical education. The services of the CU midwifery faculty practices are foundational to midwifery education at CU.
Research: CU has been the home to leaders in women's health research, and we strive to contribute to increasing knowledge regarding the safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness of midwifery care.

Types of Employment
Work-Study
Work-Study is a financial aid award that allows undergraduate and graduate students to work part-time to earn money to pay for educational expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient's course of study. Students earning work-study funds are paid bi-weekly. If awarded work-study, students may search open positions on the Handshake job board.

Students can be awarded Federal or Colorado Work Study. Not sure if you have Work-Study? It will be a specific line item in your financial aid award package located in your student portal.

Student Hourly
Student Hourly positions are on-campus positions funded by a university department’s budget. Work-study and/or financial aid is not required for this type of employment. All hourly students must be enrolled in some credit-earning capacity during the semester in which you are employed. Students may search open positions on the Handshake job board.

Regular Hourly
Regular Hourly positions are offered by businesses in the surrounding Denver community, and are not affiliated with the university. All students, regardless of enrollment or financial need, may apply for these positions through the Handshake job board.
