PUBLIC HEALTH / SOCIAL WORK (COORDINATED DEGREE), MPH / MSW

Want to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities? Our coordinated Public Health/Social Work degree can give you the education and training you need to help solve multifactorial health problems through population-based health promotion and improvement.

Offered in conjunction with the University of Alabama School of Social Work, our MPH will give you a foundation in public health centered around the evidence-based public health model. MPH courses, which you can take online, will share up to 12 credit hours of the MSHA program, so you can finish your degree in a timely manner. In addition, we’ll give you the opportunity to train in areas such as healthcare organization, health behavior and program development, health policy, and many other areas of public health.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

International students from non-English speaking countries are required to submit English proficiency scores (TOEFL/IELTS/PTEA) that meet the Graduate School's minimum score requirements.

TOEFL: 80
IELTS: 6.5
PTEA: 53
IELA: 176
Duolingo: 120

We will only accept English proficiency scores that have been taken within a two (2) year period from the date that the application was submitted. Scores that exceed this time frame are considered expired and will not be accepted. We will not accept English proficiency test scores that are more than two years old unless program requests a recency waiver on the applicant's behalf.

Applicants must contact the testing agency to have the official scores sent to the UAB Graduate School. TOEFL scores should be submitted to institution code 1856; IELTS and PTEA scores should be issued electronically or mailed directly to the UAB Graduate School.
UAB does not accept My Best Scores from TOEFL. You will need to submit individual test date score reports to your application.
