Post-Compulsory teaching at Nottingham Trent University (NTU)
This teacher training course is suitable for applicants with subject experience from a wide variety of areas and industries. It leads to a teaching qualification in the post-compulsory education and training sector. The awards meet the national professional standards, and will enable you to register through NTU for professional formation in order to achieve Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS). Registration for QTLS through NTU in the academic year immediately following qualification is free of charge to completing students. QTLS is the badge of professionalism for the sector and has been recognised as equivalent to QTS allowing holders to work in secondary schools.
We equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the demanding role of teacher / lecturer. The course is endorsed within the national framework for the sector and constitutes the University's equivalent of the Diploma in Education and Training.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Three and four-year Bachelors degrees
Grades of 55% (2.1), 50% (2.2) from the University of Mumbai, University of Kolkata and University of Delhi.
Grades of 60% (2.1), 55% (2.2) from other recognised universities in India
Masters degrees
Grades of 50%+ from recognised universities in India
Grade equivalent to IELTS 6.5
PTE Academic:
62 (with no less than 51 in any element)
C2 Proficiency (formerly known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)):
Scores of 180 and above, with 162 or above in Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking
C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)):
Scores of 176 and above, with 162 or above in Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking
Scores of 185 and above are equivalent to IELTS 7.0 overall
LanguageCert SELT B2 or LanguageCert International ESOL B2 Communicator:

180 overall (scores for all 4 components added together) with at least 33 in each component. A score of 39 is required where IELTS 6.0 is required in any component.
Oxford Test of English (OTE):

TOEFL iBT, including ‘Special Home Edition' (please note, we do not accept 'TOEFL Essentials'):
Overall score of 81 with at least 10 Reading, 9 Listening, 17 Speaking, 19 Writing
