MSc CLINICAL EXERCISE SCIENCE

An important aspect to this course is the opportunity to work in clinical settings with real patients with real conditions.

The course will feature unique and exciting partnerships with a number of health practitioners and organisations such as the NHS, Nuffield Health and Diabetes UK. These placement opportunities allow real-world learning as well as enhancing employability skills and preparation for further study.

In addition to external placements, we can also offer placement opportunities in-house through our up and coming exercise referral scheme. This, in conjunction with a range of local initiatives, will provide a holistic health and wellbeing ‘hub’ which will serve the local community with provision such as gym and class-based exercise, nutrition and weight management information, smoking cessation, cooking classes and specialist training programmes for a range of clinical conditions. These will all be taught in our Sports Complex by fully trained staff and students

You’ll have the opportunity to choose your own clinical placement. This will allow you to tailor your learning experience in an area of interest. Although the list of placements is not exhaustive, we have managed to establish strong links with both local authority and private organisations such as University Hospital Southampton, Diabetes UK, MacMillan and a range of exercise referral schemes and facilities around Southampton and Hampshire.

Students will have the opportunity to gain extra qualifications during their studies. Available qualifications include Active IQ L2 Gym and REPs L3 Exercise Referral.
