Bachelor of Medical Science
If your career goal is to gain employment in a biological or medical research laboratory, or perhaps a government regulatory laboratory, then studying the Bachelor of Medical Science is ideal. Providing a focused grounding on the interactions between chemical and biological science, as well as key disciplines in medical science, you’ll become experienced and proficient in medical science laboratory skills, specifically those used in research laboratories.
You’ll flourish under the guidance of UC’s expert teaching staff, who all have extensive experience in medical and biomedical research and are members of UC’s prestigious Centre for Research in Therapeutic Solutions. Highly practical and alive with Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities, you’ll graduate with a confident knowledge of the workings of a laboratory and the necessary skills to secure your first employment role in medical science. Or if further study is your planned next step, the course is the perfect pathway for entry into postgraduate medicine or other allied health specialties.

- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Must provide certified evidence of your current English proficiency level including: English tests; transcripts and award certificates; and/or a letter from the institution stating the language of instruction.
- Must provide certified evidence of academic transcripts and award certificates. Transcripts should indicate if the academic requirements of the course are incomplete /complete or if the award has been conferred.
- Provide Statements of Employment and a Resume with referee contact details for courses with work experience requirements.
- Subject descriptions must be provided for International Qualifications and may be requested for Domestic Qualifications if required. Not providing this documentation with your application could delay the outcome- Credit transfer/ advanced standing.
- Other qualifications not listed will be considered on an individual basis. This list provides minimum entry requirements for courses; however, some courses may have higher entry requirements. If you are unable to meet the above requirements, you may be eligible to access a pathway provided by college.
