ANTHROPOLOGY, B.A.

Anthropology is the study of peoples and cultures in all of their biological and ethnic diversity. It is composed of four traditional branches: archaeology (the human past), biological anthropology (the human body), cultural anthropology (living peoples and cultures), and linguistics (languages). Unlike many programs elsewhere, at CSU you can major in Anthropology with a specialization in any of the four branches.

An anthropology major equips students for and is in high demand in all areas of business, not-for-profit activity, and government, from product design and marketing to community organization and law enforcement, intelligence, and even national security. Anthropological study also prepares students for graduate school in anthropology, the other humanities and social sciences, medicine, and law, among a host of other fields. Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

The following admission requirements apply to students who have not completed any college-level course work after completing secondary school.

  1. Cumulative secondary school GPA equivalent to a 2.3 on the US grading scale for most programs. The College of Engineering requires a 3.0 and the College of Education and Human Services requires a 2.5.
  2. Proof of English proficiency.
  3. Students who have attended a US high school or secondary school in another country that follows the US high school curriculum must submit ACT or SAT scores. These students must submit a minimum total ACT score of 16, or a minimum old total SAT score of 770 (before March 1, 2016), or a minimum new total SAT score of 880 (after March 1, 2016). Students who are applying to the Honors College and student athletes must comply with NCAA eligibility requirements.   4. Official transcripts of academic work and completion certificates from each secondary school and university attended. PHOTOCOPIES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
