Benefits of a work placement
If you opt to complete a work placement as part of your degree programme, the aim of this placement is to complement and develop your skills and knowledge gained in the first two years of your course.

  • Gain practical and relevant work experience
  • Build your confidence and develop a real-world attitude to business
  • Earn a salary, gain increased responsibility and independence
  • Create a network of industry contacts and subsequent job opportunities
  • Gain insight into roles and employers enabling more informed career choices
  • Choose a placement overseas to gain international experience

Finding a placement

Our placement and careers teams offer the following support when it comes to researching and applying for work placements:

  • Weekly e-bulletins advertising placement opportunities
  • Sessions on interview skills, CV clinics, mock assessment centres and psychometric tests
  • Employer drop-in sessions and careers fairs

We do allow our students to complete international work placements and to source their own placements - you do not necessarily have to find your placement via the weekly e-bulletins provided by the Careers Service. If you do source your own placement, please note that it must be approved by the School to ensure that the job role is in line with your programme of study and learning outcomes.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

The requirements will vary dependent on the institution of study and the grading scheme used. A First Division classification and an average of between 60% and 80% will usually be required.

Standard XII English from the Central Board of Secondary Education or Indian Certificate of Secondary Education with a score of 80% or above is accepted to meet the English Language Requirements. Standard XII from a State Board will be considered on a case by case basis. Alternatively, you will need to check our English Language Requirements.

Academic entry qualification overview
We require a First or Upper Second class honours degree (2:1, with 60% average) from a UK university or the overseas equivalent.
You need a degree in accounting or overseas equivalent. Excellent results in accounting subjects are preferable, although a relevant and advanced UK professional accounting qualification (or overseas equivalent) will also be considered
We also consider applicants studying degrees in business administration, business management or commerce or economics. Due to competition for places, we give preference to applicants with an undergraduate degree in accounting
You need to demonstrate a very strong background in accounting throughout your degree, and a final year major or specialisation in accounting will also be considered.
We highly recommend GMAT or GRE and anticipate a well-balanced score with a strong performance in the quantitative sections.
