International Year Zero (IYZ) in Engineering and Computer Science

Covering the major mathematical and scientific principles, this programme gives you a great start in engineering and computing. With a heavy focus on maths, physics and programming, you'll deepen your understanding during your foundation year.
After finishing the course, you will continue your studies in either our School of Computer Science where you will obtain a BSc degree that is accredited by the British Computer Society or you will join our School of Electronic Engineering, with its range of specialist courses. Our BEng programmes, which are accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, can set you on the road to Chartered Engineer Status.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
English Language
Standard entry IELTS 5.5 (no component below 5.5). Students with a lower IELTS will be required to do either a 6 week or 12 weeks pre-sessional English programme.
- IELTS 4.5 (no component below 4.0) with 12 weeks pre-sessional English programme
or
- IELTS 5.0 (no component below 4.5) with 6 weeks pre-sessional English programme
or
- IELTS 5.5 (any component below 5.5) with 6 weeks pre-sessional English programme
and
Academic requirements
- High school certificate or equivalent from your home country
- Successful completion of Standard XI with an average of 50% or above,
- or completion of Standard XII with an average of 45% or above
- Successful completion of HSC with a minimum of 50%
