Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) - Computing and Data Science

Have you ever wondered how Bureau of Metrology forecast the weather; how your smart phone can recognise your face; how YouTube makes recommendations; and how Siri can listen to your command and hold a conversation?

Studying this course will transform how you see the world. In addition to the physical beings, a data scientist will also see their “digital twins”, in a variety of formats, numbers, text descriptions, audios, images, and videos, in streams, at super speed and high volumes, creating incredibly rich ever-growing data oceans that hold the power to advance our new digital civilisation. In this degree, you will build solid data storage, processing, visualisation and manipulation skills to build models for pattern discovery, predication and forecasting, and ultimately turn raw data into actionable knowledge.

Data is ubiquitous, graduates who are able to harvest knowledge from the data oceans are highly sought after in all sectors, mining and resources industry, health care, government and non-government agencies, just to name a few.
