BA (Hons) Education
Throughout our Education course, you’ll explore these and other questions from a range of disciplinary perspectives. Drawing on philosophy, sociology, history, psychology and politics, you’ll consider issues such as how poverty can condition children’s learning experiences or the way education differs across national and international contexts.
We want to make your experience as interactive and collaborative as possible. The degree is designed to introduce you to a range of current debates and contemporary issues in education, combined with practical experience.
As you progress through the degree, you will have the option to explore your personal journey within education, tailoring your study to your career intentions. You may opt for units focusing on issues such as global agendas in education, or volunteer in a school to understand how teachers plan their classes.
This new degree also offers the chance to gain experiences in areas of Secondary Education offering new, exciting, career opportunities.
You will be encouraged to take a critical perspective throughout, and you will balance academic skills with practical experience.
You’ll learn through a mix of lectures, projects and placements, tutorials, presentations and discussions. Some of the ways you might learn include group work with your peers, debating topical issues in education and delivering group presentations. This is to help you develop the confidence to present to an audience, whether you’re speaking to a classroom of eight-year olds, your friends or educational professionals.
On the course you’ll learn through a mix of lectures, tutorials, group projects, presentations and discussions along with the opportunity to put your learning into practice during placements. This degree is designed to offer you a personalised journey that supports your future career development priorities.
We will help you to explore key skills including personal ethics and introduce you to a range of concepts, policies and theories that apply to education globally.
You may tailor your study to focus on clear pathways towards your future career ambitions, for example if you want to teach English abroad you can choose a unit related to international education. You will be encouraged to take a critical perspective throughout, and you will balance academic skills with practical experience.

25 IB Diploma Points to include HL 4 or SL 5 in English
IELTS SCORE REQUIRED FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
IELTS 6.0 with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of the course start date
