B.SC (HONS) MICROBIOLOGY
This course explores microbiology in a broad sense, embracing subjects not only of great relevance today but also of likely increased importance in the future, such as novel therapeutics in the face of resistance to antibiotics, the exploitation of microbes for sustainable food and fuel production, and the emergence of new pathogens. The course offers an integrated learning experience, combining academic scholarship, technical and analytical training, and interaction with industry to achieve a well-balanced understanding of the biology of microbes and their relevance to, and application in, the real world.
The course will prepare you for a wide range of future careers in the life sciences and beyond.

Biology provides an excellent basis for careers in biomedicine, biotechnology, conservation, the pharmaceutical or food industries, research or teaching. Prospective employers include pharmaceutical companies, environment agencies, hospitals, forensic laboratories, clinical trials companies, medical writing companies, scientific sales and general management jobs.
A number of students continue on to postgraduate study, either taught science masters’ courses, research degrees or teaching qualifications.

- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
GCSE
English language and mathematics at grade C or 4 or above
You must fulfil our GCSE entry requirements as well as one of the requirements listed below
A level
104 - 112 UCAS points including A2 biology grade C or equivalent. A pass in the practical element of science A level must be achieved
Undergraduate
The following grades are normally required (exam board in brackets): 50% (West Bengal), 55% (ISC, awarded by CISCE), 60% (CBSE), 65% (all other state boards) for undergraduate study.
