Computing, MSc

The MSc Computing will help you to develop your computing skills in the theory and practice of designing and developing computer systems. On this course you will build on your existing skills and develop new skills in order to prepare yourself for employment in the computing industry. This requires an understanding of programming, systems design and evaluation, project management, creative problem-solving and a range of technical skills. You will also have the opportunity to work on a substantial project of your own choice.

You’ll investigate the current trends and research activities in the computing community, and plan, undertake and evaluate a substantial computing project in which you will put into practice and develop your self-management, communication, critical evaluation and technical skills.

55% in bachelor degree

70% in Year 12 English*
Or
70% average grade in Year 11 and Year 12 English provided Year 12 is not below 65%

Standard English language entry requirements – IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

GCSE or O-Level English Grade C - Grade C

A Level English Language - Grade C

TOEFL iBT including Special At Home Edition - 88 (with minimum grades of 21 in each component)

UCLan Test of English Language Level (TELL) - Merit (75%) with no component below pass (65%)

Pearson Test of EnglishAcademic - 61 with minimum of 55 in each component

Specific entry requirements for the course are a recognised British Honours degree (or its equivalent) with a minimum of a 2ii or above, in computing or a closely-related discipline; or a recognised British Honours degree (or its equivalent) in a non-computing subject area plus substantial relevant experience; or a BCS postgraduate diploma plus a PGD project; or qualifications deemed by the University to be equivalent.

Applications from all candidates will be considered on their merits. For international students IELTS 6.5, or its equivalent, is a minimum requirement.
