Certificate of Higher Education in Leather Technology
This one year full-time course is the perfect introduction to help you go straight into the leather industry. You will get a thorough grounding in leather and its requirements through a practical approach in our tanner and laboratories, underpinned by essential theory.
You will gain and expand your understanding of leather making starting with the raw hide through to the finished leather. Throughout the process you will appreciate the importance of quality control and performance in relation to future use.

Waterside Campus
In the summer of 2018 the University of Northampton moved to the brand-new Waterside Campus. This seven-year project saw a neglected brownfield site transformed into a successful and impressive new campus that facilitated a radical re-engineering of the University in terms of both teaching methodology and governance structures. aterside is a waterfront site of 24 hectares on the edge of the town centre. Its successful completion has turned a derelict site into a leading facility in the higher education sector. The project brief emphasised integration, of the University into the town and local community, and of departments, facilities and teams within the University itself. New pedestrian and road bridges and cycle routes link the site to the town, and public facilities and commercial outlets are part of a Waterside experience which continues beyond the University to local historic buildings and parks.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Entry requirements for the Certificate of Higher Education in Leather Technology are typically CCC at A-Level or MMM at BTEC. In addition, applicants are expected to have studied a physical science subject at A-level or the equivalent qualification. We also welcome applicants from national and international students with significant prior experience in the leather industry.
Potential students from a creative background will be considered on their GCSE science grades and advised not to take Leather Science as a 20-credit module choice, but take a marketing or business based module instead. There is a weekly science club for these students which they are advised to attend.
