Graduate Certificate in Fieldwork Practice

This course is designed for both people preparing to work in the field and researchers undertaking research fieldwork in a range of complex, unstable and potentially hostile environments. The course combines the development of core knowledge on effective field preparation through classroom teaching with practical field training through virtual reality technologies and immersive scenarios at our field camp. The core unit develops knowledge and skills in fieldwork design and planning, risk management, personal safety, ethical dilemmas, information security and crisis response, combined with flexible elective unit options..

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—
(a) a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA with the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 65 per cent in the Level 3 units of a major;
or
(b) a level and duration of education, professional experience, and demonstrable life skills considered by UWA to be sufficient to permit satisfactory completion of the course.
