Graduate Diploma in Economic Analysis

This degree is designed for students with a strong background in mathematics, or professionals requiring high-end training in some aspects of economic theory and applications. It is also suitable for students seeking a stepping stone towards a PhD in the area of economics.

Career Pathways
The Graduate Diploma in Economic Analysis will prepare you for a career in academia or a highly skilled economic job at institutions such as the Reserve Bank of Australia, the Productivity Commission, the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority and the Australian Securities Exchange.

Our graduates include Nobel Laureate in Economics and game theory pioneer, John Harsanyi, Reserve Bank of Australia Governor, Glenn Stevens and Professor of Economics and Public Policy, Justin Wolfers (University of Michigan).

Future study options
The Master of Economic Analysis includes core, electives and research project-based study; it is a counterpart to the Master of Economics.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Admission to candidature for the Graduate Diploma in Economic Analysis requires:

a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, including a major in Economics with a minimum distinction (75%) average, or an equivalent qualification; or
completion of the requirements of the embedded Graduate Certificate in Economic Analysis with a minimum distinction (75%), or an equivalent qualification; or
You can progress from the Graduate Certificate to a Graduate Diploma or Masters, or from a Graduate Diploma to Masters in the same subject area, after successful completion of the shorter course with a minimum distinction (75%) average mark.

TOEFL - IBT score - A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 23 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 25 in Writing

IELTS score - A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 7.0 in each band

TOEFL - PBT score - A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing

Pearsons Test of English - A minimum result of 68 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
