About this course
The Bachelor of Design (Honours) provides students who have qualified for, or been awarded, an undergraduate pass degree in design, the opportunity to extend their potential in a research task under the supervision of a member of academic staff.
Who is it for?
This course is for design students looking to extend their knowledge through focused research in interaction design, product design, or related areas. It offers the opportunity to deepen academic understanding and explore specialised topics within the design field.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- To qualify to enrol in the Bachelor of Design (Honours) candidates should have qualified for the award of the pass degree, or a similar degree from another university that is acceptable to the University, or be a graduate of not more than four years standing. Candidates should have a weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 70 . Applicants may also need to satisfy other criteria set by the School of Architecture Design and Planning. Admission is competitive, meeting this criteria is not a guarantee of entry.
NOTE: This degree requires completion of a major cognate to the Honours area you want to apply for.
Before applying candidates should have an approved thesis topic and supervisor. The supervisor must be from our academic staff. We invite candidates to discuss their plans with a relevant staff member.
