Doctoral of Law

The Doctoral Program in Law at the Faculty of Law Universitas Airlangga was established in 1976 and funded by the General Directorate of Higher Education Department of Education and Culture through Doctoral Program Management Team (TMPD) project. Based on Rector Decree Number A.II.2883 / Rektor / 25a /  / 1979 , dated March 16, 1979, the organization of Graduate program administration of Universitas Airlangga was under Coordinator of Graduate Programs Universitas Airlangga that reports to the Vice Rector I (Academic Affairs). The academic activities were conducted by the Head of Graduate Education Program or the officials in each faculty. There were quite a number of participants who has successfully achieved the Doctoral degree in Law. In addition, the Doctoral Program also offered “Sandwich Program”, a joint cooperation with the Netherlands, in which students would receive a scholarship to study in a doctoral program in Netherland. The program was managed by the Nederlandsche Stichting voor Juridisce Samenwerking tussen Indonesia en Nederland.

VISION OF THE STUDY PROGRAM

Becoming an independent, innovative, reputable Doctoral Program in Law on regional and international level, and pioneer in the development of Law Science based on religious morality.

MISSION OF THE STUDY PROGRAM

a. Generating highly-knowledgeable Doctor of Law with excellent academic skills, creativity, dynamics, professionalism and competitiveness;

b. Conducting research on legal fields as part of education and community services development;

c. Dedicating expertise in the field of law to the society;

d. Seeking independence in executing Tri Dharma of Higher Education through management development oriented to enhancing quality and competitiveness at international level.

The Objectives The Doctoral Program aims to produce qualified graduates as follow:

a. Developing new concepts of science and technology in the field of law;

b. Developing fundamental and applied research programs in the field of Law;

c. Developing interdisciplinary approaches.

The Characteristics of the Doctoral Program Doctoral education is oriented towards excellent academic achievements and quality control as well as laying the foundation for developing the instruments of doctorate education with 3 (three) main characteristics, namely:

a. Advanced attributes

b. Focused attributes (a discrete body of knowledge)

c. Scholarly attributes

Graduates Competence In accordance with the state ideology and Indonesian nation culture, the implementation of the national education system held by the Doctoral Program in Law at the Faculty of Law Univesitas Airlangga includes the process of developing affective aspects as follow:

a. Piety to the Supreme Lord

b. Possessing good morals, ethics and personality in accomplishing duties

c. Taking Role as a proud citizen, a nationalist and supporting the world peace

d. Having good teamwork skills, high level of social sensitivity, and concern for the society and the environment

e. Appreciating diversity in cultures, point of views, beliefs, religions, and original findings

f. Upholding law enforcement and prioritizing the interests of the nation and the wider community.

Graduates of Doctoral Program in Law at the Faculty of Law Universitas Airlangga are capable of:

1. Developing new knowledge in the field of law or professional law practice through research to produce creative, original, and valid innovations;

2. Solving problems in the field of law through inter-, multi- or transdisciplinary approaches;

3. Managing, leading, and developing research in the field of law that is beneficial to the science and humanity in order to gain national and international recognitions.
