Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Footwear and Accessory Design

The BFA in Footwear & Accessory Design encompasses the unique process of 2D and 3D design and construction of footwear and accessories and the development of a final collection and extensive portfolio. The BFA will focus on, relative to footwear and accessories:   

• Identification and use of materials and hardware
• Pattern drafting   
• Machine and hand sewing leather techniques
• The use of industry-standard tools and equipment
• The application of a design process to design, develop and build ranges
• 3D construction methods
• Consumer, market, and trends
• Hand sketching and CAD, including 3D design software
• Industry-standard specification sheets
• Presentation of work with an emphasis on defending the work in the context of current and future trends in footwear
• Building an extensive portfolio of work relevant to today’s and future accessory trends
• Finding and developing a personal design aesthetic
