MSc Clinical Skin Integrity and Wound Management
The MSc Clinical Skin Integrity & Wound Management has been developed to meet the needs of practitioners with a special interest in skin integrity and wound management while benefiting from shared, inter-professional learning. This skin integrity programme is unique in that it recruits both UK/EU and International allied health professionals to this specialist master’s degree.
The MSc Clinical Skin Integrity & Wound Management is a taught postgraduate programme aimed at practitioners wanting to undertake further specialist training and develop career aspirations in skin integrity and wound management. This unique postgraduate programme combines the closely related specialities of wound management and dermatology and offers wound and skin integrity modules that appeal to healthcare professionals who want to develop a deeper understanding of chronic wound healing and conditions affecting skin integrity.
This programme has an emphasis on developing practical competencies; good diagnostic skills, appropriate and timely management of common wounds and skin integrity problems and allows flexibility to study related specialist content to broaden student’s clinical expertise which is invaluable in today’s competitive workplace.

College Lane Campus
The main site of the university remains the College Lane campus, which houses the original Hatfield Technical College building. Notable among the buildings in this campus is the university's Learning Resource Centre, a combined library and computer centre. There is also a substantial collection of halls of residence and student houses, and the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union is headquartered at College Lane campus. The College Lane campus is also the location of Hertfordshire International College, which is part of the Navitas group, providing a direct pathway for international students to the University.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Entry requirements
The normal entry requirements for the programme are:
- A degree in a healthcare discipline (or equivalent) & have a recognised professional qualification.
and
- The equivalent of 2 years Full-Time post-qualifying experience (excluding internship) and additionally 1 year Full Time in a substantive speciality post in skin integrity/wound management
and
- Current clinical experience of a minimum of 1-year Full time or equivalent in a clinical setting with access to patients with chronic wounds or skin integrity related conditions
- References will be required to confirm the specialist experience.
Additionally:
- All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. A minimum IELTS 6.5 is required with no less than 6.0 in each band or GCSE in English with minimum grade C.
- All students who wish to undertake an observational placement for Clinical Practice in Action (7LMS0156) as part of their programme will need a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, or provide a statement of good standing
- All visa applicants are required to submit biometrics and declare any criminal convictions in their Visa Application Form (VAF) which is routinely checked against Home Office and Police National Computer (PNC) databases on admission to the programme.
This programme is subject to the University's Principles, Policies, Regulations and Procedures for the Admission of Students to Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate Programmes and will take account of University policy and guidelines for assessing accredited prior certificated learning (APCL) and accredited prior experiential learning (APEL).
If you have a recognised postgraduate wound management qualification e.g. IIWCC (Toronto University) you may be able to transfer existing credits into this programme and should contact the Programme Leader when applying and will study a shorter programme of study. If you already have a relevant postgraduate qualification you may be able to transfer existing credits into this programme and should contact the Programme Leader Madeleine Flanagan for further advice.
Due to the specialist nature of this programme, you will be required to discuss your programme of study with the Programme Leader prior to completing your application form so that your eligibility for particular modules can be assessed.
Notes
International students normally require a Student Visa to study a Full-Time postgraduate programme in the UK.
