BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science

Pharmaceutical scientists play a vital role in the development of new medicines – from the initial discovery chemistry through to formulation development, manufacture, clinical testing, and beyond. This course has been developed in collaboration with local and national biotech and pharmaceutical companies to ensure that its content stays relevant and it gives you up-to-date skills.

Modules give you a fundamental understanding of chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and pharmacology, before building your specialist knowledge in drug design, formulation development, and clinical testing. At the same time, you’ll develop the essential capabilities employers want to see in their graduate employees.

Campus Information

College Lane Campus

The main site of the university remains the College Lane campus, which houses the original Hatfield Technical College building. Notable among the buildings in this campus is the university's Learning Resource Centre, a combined library and computer centre. There is also a substantial collection of halls of residence and student houses, and the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union is headquartered at College Lane campus. The College Lane campus is also the location of Hertfordshire International College, which is part of the Navitas group, providing a direct pathway for international students to the University.

  • BCC -  Including grade C or above in Chemistry.

BTEC

  • DMM -  Requires Extended Diploma in Engineering (DMM) to include Distinction in Further Maths

Undergraduate (year 1)

  • Completion of the Standard XII Certificate with 60-70% depending on points tariff required by the UH course. Some courses may require specific subjects
  • IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band for standard courses – some courses require higher
  • Standard XII English with 65% will also be accepted

Undergraduate (year 2/3)

  • Depending on qualifications and course - usually require 2/3 year Diploma post-Standard XII to be considered
