Inclusive Education (BA)

Program Available at Swansea and Carmarthen Campus

Building on the Foundation Degree in Inclusive Education, this one-year top-up to a Bachelors's is designed to deepen understanding of education practice and policy, and further develop students’ academic writing and thinking skills. It explores some of the broader issues and contexts for education.

  • The program has the following general educational and specific aims:
  • To provide students with knowledge and understanding of education in its various contexts;
  • To offer a broad and balanced knowledge and understanding of the principal features of education in diverse contexts;
  • To engage students in fundamental questioning concerning the purposes and values underpinning education;
  • To help students become aware of issues and problems associated with education theory, policy and practice;
  • To engage students in discourses about educational processes;
  • To encourage students to acquire a range of transferable academic skills and to work independently and collaboratively;
  • To develop students’ ability to produce rational arguments on educational issues in a clear and coherent manner;
  • To promote a range of personal qualities including autonomy, reflective thinking, and critical engagement.

The BA program also aims to: develop curriculum-related delivery to ensure that our students are provided with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will equip them for their future contribution, within and beyond their workplace, to education, the economy, community and environment; and contribute to our communities by giving particular regard to issues of sustainable rural communities.
