BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling
Counselling psychology uses theory and research in therapy to help clients with a range of difficult life issues and/or mental health conditions. A particular strength of a degree in Psychology with Counselling is the excellent communication skills and awareness of diversity you will develop. This will be an advantage should you wish to go on to train as a Clinical Psychologist, counsellor, or work in other roles requiring excellent communication skills, such as sales and marketing.

Talbot Campus is where the majority of our Faculties are located and is also where you'll find the main university facilities, such as The Sir Michael Cobham Library, the Student Centre and SportBU - a fully equipped sports centre and gym. There are many study spaces where you can work in groups or individually within the library and the Student Centre, as well as in the Purple Lounge.

Job Opportunity Potential
Accredited by the BPS, this course will be widely recognised by employers in many fields. Our degree will prepare you well for working in a range of careers such as management, personnel, social work or working in public services. As it carries professional accreditation by the BPS, it will be particularly helpful should you wish to follow a career in clinical or counselling psychology.
This degree will also provide a basis for postgraduate studies for professional or academic careers in Psychology as they all require communication skills.

Entry requirements for Bangladeshi students
BU International College Foundation Certificates
- You can undertake a Foundation Certificate before going on to an undergraduate course if you have successfully completed 12 years of schooling in Bangladesh and achieved a minimum of IELTS (Academic) 5.0.
Undergraduate courses
- You can apply to study for a Bachelor's degree from year one if you have a Bachelors's degree from a recognized Bangladeshi institution, with at least two years of study.
Entry requirements for Indian students
BU International College Foundation Certificates
- You can undertake a Foundation Certificate before going on to an undergraduate course if you have successfully completed 12 years of schooling in India and achieved a minimum of IELTS (Academic) 5.0.
Undergraduate courses
- You can apply to study for a Bachelor's degree from year one if you hold a Higher Secondary School Certificate/Standard XII and have achieved an average percentage of at least 65% (although some courses will require this to be higher).
