MPhil – Faculty of Science & Technology

Biodiversity, Environmental Change & the Green Economy; Creative, Digital & Cognitive Science and Technology & Design are some of the many research themes in the Faculty of Science & Technology.

A Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is an opportunity to critically investigate and evaluate a specific topic in one of our specialisms with a research supervisor.

We strongly support collaboration across specialisms, both within our faculty and across the university as a whole, giving you plenty of scope to investigate a topic that you are passionate about. Many of our MPhil candidates will go on to complete their research as a PhD.

Campus Information

Talbot Campus

Talbot Campus is where the majority of our Faculties are located and is also where you'll find the main university facilities, such as The Sir Michael Cobham Library, the Student Centre and SportBU - a fully equipped sports centre and gym. There are many study spaces where you can work in groups or individually within the library and the Student Centre, as well as in the Purple Lounge.

Lansdowne Campus

Our Lansdowne Campus is just a few minutes' walk away from Bournemouth town centre. It's home to our Faculty of Health & Social Sciences and where you'll find the Executive Business Centre (EBC), the facility used by the Bournemouth University Business School to deliver some of its postgraduate courses.

Entry requirements for Bangladeshi students

You need to have a Master’s degree from a recognized Bangladeshi institution, which should follow a three or four-year Bachelor's degree.

Entry requirements for Indian students

You need to have an Indian Bachelor's (Honours) degree from a recognized higher education institution in a relevant subject and to have met the minimum required grades.

Entry requirements for Nepalese

You need to have a Master’s degree, following a three-year Bachelor's degree, to apply for one of our postgraduate taught courses.

Entry requirements for Sri Lankan students

If you have been awarded a four-year Bachelor's degree by a recognized higher education institution in Sri Lanka, you can apply for a taught postgraduate degree at BU
