Smart Cities

The last decades have witnessed unprecedented population and urbanization growth with the implication that today, for the first time in human history, more than half of the world's population lives in cities. The consequences of this urbanization trend along with the notion of smart cities are the settings of this program.

Set in the “World’s Smartest City”, the program aims to introduce students to rapidly developing ICT (information communication technologies), and how it opens new possibilities and opportunities to solve some chronic urban problems as well as handle some newly recognized environmental and social problems.

The focus of the program will be on traffic congestion, urban sustainability, resilience, governance and urban planning all while discussing the most prominent issues associated with smart cities such as ethics, transportation, governance, urban planning and design, sustainability and resilience. The course will take place inside and outside of the classroom and will include visits to Tel Aviv Municipality’s facilities as well as meetings with city officials that deal with Smart City solutions. The program is in collaboration with "City Center" – TAU’s Research center for Cities and Urbanism. The program is open for graduate students and students at the last year of their undergraduate degree.

In addition to coursework, TAU International offers social activities and trips around the country, such as to the North, the Dead Sea and Jerusalem, are conducted by our Madrichim. Precise dates for these will be announced closer to the program start date.
