Hotel Campus
You are not going to get a better understanding of how hotels, tourism and hospitality operate anywhere else than living and studying in an actual hotel. Students are totally immersed in an hotel environment. You will be living in twin share hotel rooms. Meals will be served in our La Vista Restaurant onsite.
Paid Industry Placement

Potential earnings of $30,000 - $55,000 during your study. Placements are sourced by the PIHMS industry placement team, in leading hotels throughout New Zealand and Australia. Please note placements in Australia are only available for New Zealand Citizens.

As a manager or hospitality / tourism professional you will need to consider the origination and industry as a whole, and work with other colleagues and stakeholders from other sides of the industry. The experience you gain from your two Industry placements in multiple sides of the industry give you the ability to be promoted into these roles.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Entry Requirements:
All applicants are interviewed. Students under 17.5 will be assessed on a case by case basis. Students are required to have New Zealand University Entrance or equivalent international qualifications.
To gain University Entrance you will need:
- NCEA Level 3
- Approved subjects: 14 credits in each of three approved subjects at Level 3
- Literacy requirement: 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of 5 credits in reading and 5 credits in writing
- Numeracy requirement: 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of achievement standards in a range of subjects
- To recognise the disruption caused by Covid-19, there are some changes to UE for 2020, for details please see New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) University entrance information.
Overseas students will also require an ESOL minimum of IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 213 (comp adaptive) or 550 (written).
