BACHELOR OF APPLIED COMMERCE - FINANCIAL PLANNING MAJOR

The Bachelor of Applied Commerce is a three year degree for people who want to work in the financial services sector. You can select to major in accounting or financial planning, or you can do a double major.

Not only has this course been developed in consultation with industry to ensure you get the knowledge and skills that employers want, you will do an industry placement in third year which will give you practical experience in a workplace setting, and helps you establish valuable industry contacts.

Careers in the financial services sector are diverse and graduates can find themselves working in a variety of settings depending on which major they have completed. By doing some additional subjects, students can graduate with a double major - accounting and financial planning.

PSW Opportunity

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Year 12 in one of the following:

  • All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) with an average of 65% OR
  • Indian School Certificate (ISC) with an average of 65% OR
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (State Boards) with an average of 70% OR
  • Certificate of Vocational Education with an average of 70%

IELTS Score

Academic IELTS 6.5 (with no individual band less than 6.0)

Academic PTE with an overall score of 58 and minimum score of 50 in each component

  • • TOEFL (iBT) with the following minimum scores: overall 79, Reading 19, listening 20, speaking 20 and writing 20
  • • Occupational English Test (OET) with a minimum score of B in each of the 4 components
  • • TAFE NSW English for Academic Purposes
  • • Completion of Year 12 or equivalent or higher-level studies in one or more of the following countries: UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland
  • • Completion of NSW HSC* or equivalent or studies at Certificate IV level or higher in Australia
