Master of Physiotherapy

The overall aims of the program are to:

  • prepare students for professional practice as Physiotherapists.  Graduates will be able to practise across a range of settings, including rural and remote areas.  Emphasis will be placed on preparing a contemporary health professional to be client-centred and to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.  The course aims have been developed to ensure that graduates meet the Australian Standards for Physiotherapy (Australian Physiotherapy Council).

Campus Information

Bedford Park

Located just 12km south of the centre of Adelaide, the Bedford Park campus is Flinders' main campus. It's a spacious, elevated site with panoramic views to the coast and over the city. Our Student Hub offers 24/7 study spaces and access to all student services in one convenient location.

Victoria Square

Located in the heart of Adelaide CBD, Flinders at Victoria Square is an accessible, alternative and flexible space for students, staff and the general public. We teach a selection of courses and topics and provide general information to students who want to study at Flinders.

PSW Opportunity

International students studying at Flinders University will be eligible to access an additional year in Australia on a post-study work visa, which means Masters graduate can get up to 3 years of PSW visa. 

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

applicants must normally:

Hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification and have achieved a Grade Point Average of 5.0 or above and must demonstrate they have successfully completed the following:

  • the equivalent of 9 units of study focusing on human physiology, including one dedicated topic of exercise physiology; and
  • the equivalent of 9 units of human anatomy, including one dedicated topic of human musculoskeletal and neurological anatomy; and
  • the equivalent of 4.5 units of study focusing on an understanding of the human and social environment and social perspectives in health such as psychology and sociology; and
  • the equivalent of 4.5 units of study in research methods and/or evidence-based practice.

Due to limited places available, the selection is based on meeting the above requirements and academic merit. Applicants who meet the above requirements will be considered on their best Flinders equivalent GPA of 5.0 or above achieved over a minimum of one semester of full-time equivalent study in one course.

INSTRUCTIONS

Applicants must meet the following entry requirements to be eligible to apply:

Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification and have achieved a Flinders equivalent grade point
average (GPA) of credit (5.00) or above to be considered. Applicants must also have successfully completed:

  • the equivalent of 9 Flinders units (0.25 years FTE) of human physiology, including detailed exercise physiology; and
  • the equivalent of 9 Flinders units (0.25 years FTE) of anatomy, including detailed musculoskeletal and neurological anatomy; and
  • the equivalent of 4.5 Flinders units (0.125 years FTE) of study focused on an understanding of the human and social environment and social perspectives in health such as psychology and sociology; and
  • he equivalent of 4.5 Flinders units (0.125 years FTE) study of research methods and/or evidence-based practice.

Applicants who did not achieve the minimum GPA in their completed Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification can be
considered on the GPA achieved in a graduate certificate provided they have completed a minimum one semester full-time
equivalent study in this course. In addition, applicants can also be considered on the GPA achieved in a minimum of one semester of full-time equivalent study or more undertaken in another Bachelor's degree, graduate diploma, or Masters's degree of their choice, even if this course is not completed.
