Master of Science in Information Technology (Information Technology Management)

This is a blended business-technology degree that combines comprehensive information technology and management curriculum with an internship and an industry-based Information Systems Project.

Customized for students with little or no work experience, the program provides you with knowledge of current information technologies and their business applications, plus the management skills essential to successfully lead digital transformation across a wide range of industries and organizations.

Degree Structure

The program requires a total of 168 units: 108 units of core courses, 60 units of elective courses, and 400 hours (approximately 10 - 12 weeks) of an internship. The combination of core courses and electives options to suit your career objectives, with real industry experiences through the Information Systems Project and Internship, will put you at a distinct advantage over other graduates.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must provide documentation of their completed undergraduate degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution.

**(Applicants who have not completed their bachelor's degree when they submit their application, may receive a conditional offer and be required to submit their final transcript, including the date of graduation, prior to the start of their first semester at CMU Australia)

Standardized Test Scores
 
You are required to submit valid test results from either the GRE (General Test) or the GMAT from within the last five years. The test scores must be reported directly to Heinz College by the testing service. We recommend that you take the GMAT or GRE at least one month prior to the application deadline. Applicants who are sponsored by and/ or participating in a program associated with one of our partners may opt to sit for the CMU Australia Institutional Maths Online Test (IMOT)
 
For applicants taking GRE or GMAT
 
Students must achieve an average minimum score of GRE 300 or GMAT 600.
 
The test scores must be reported directly by the testing service. The Education Testing Service (ETS) administers the GRE, The Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC) administers the GMAT We recommend that applicants take the GMAT or GRE at least one month prior to the application deadline (please see Application Deadline information within each program's admissions requirements section). Please note there is no preference between the GRE or the GMAT for our Masters's programs.
 
Please report your official GRE or GMAT scores to us by following these steps:
  • Order an official score report from the testing service to be sent directly to CMU Australia (see codes listed below). You may submit scores from up to 2 valid GRE or GMAT exam dates test dates. CMU Australia will use the highest score verified in each section if you have taken the exam more than one time. For every score you wish to include with your application, you must submit the official score report(s) via the testing service. We will not accept exam scores for test dates that are not listed on the application.
  • On the online application, enter the exam date for every exam you want to report to us. Enter as much additional information as possible, including registration number for the GRE or exam appointment number for the GMAT. Note that the only required information is the exam date. We will not verify scores for exam dates that are not listed on your application.
Resume
 
Applicants are required to submit a resume. Please submit a one or two page summary of your education skills, accomplishments, employment experience, and volunteer experience. The resume must be current and include all part-time and full-time work experience, the dates of when the employment began and ended, and a brief description of your responsibilities under the title of the position.
 
Please consider using the "Optional Essay" to address the reason for any "gap" in your resume, if applicable.
 
Your resume should contain only true information and your own, original writing. If you include a quote or text written by any other person or published in any printed or online format, you must surround the copied text in quotation marks (") and indicate the original source of the text. Information reported on your resume is subject to verification. CMU Australia utilizes several methods to identify plagiarized and falsified content in uploaded documents

Internship Requirements

  1. The Internship must be full-time and total at least 300 hours for most programs.
  2. The Internship must be professional and include work that is of importance to the organization
  3. The Internship should be of significant educational value and should reflect your career interests
  4. Your prospective internship employers are urged to view the guidelines so they're fully aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  5. Formal supervision during the internship should be provided so that your performance can be assessed
  6. To fulfill the internship requirement, you must fill out the Internship Reporting Form and the Internship Evaluation Form Internship Evaluation Sheet

Students do not receive academic credit for their internship, but it will be reflected on their transcript as a course with a P/F grade.

If you're enrolled in a degree program that requires an internship, you will be responsible for securing a suitable internship.
