The Graduate Certificate in Supervision forms people to become supervisors of spiritual directors, healthcare workers, or pastoral ministers.  It educates students to develop ministry skills, personal awareness, and pastoral competencies in others.

Course learning outcomes

Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Supervision:

  • have knowledge of the key skills and processes of supervision;
  • apply theological reflection, biblical insights and acute self-awareness to the process of self-evaluation in order to assist others to assess realistically their ministry skills;
  • have experience of peer and group supervision and appreciation for the art of supervision;
  • apply the skills and processes of supervision in particular contexts (spiritual direction, healthcare practice, or pastoral ministry).

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Successful completion of an undergraduate degree, or an approved equivalent.

Attend an interview

It is a requirement that all students attend an admissions interview with an academic advisor at a College. This will be a Course Advisor in the case of coursework applicants, and a Research Coordinator in the case of a higher degree by research applicants. The interview may be conducted by telephone or email or similar means.  The purpose of the interview is to help you choose the right course, to ensure you meet the admission requirements, and to plan a program of study appropriate to your course and your needs.

Applicants with VET study

Undergraduate applicants are normally required to have the Victorian Certificate of Education, International Baccalaureate, or equivalent. Applicants with a prior VET qualification in theology or a related area may be eligible for credit at the undergraduate level.
