Master of Social and Politic Science
Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga was first established on December 23, 1977 with the name of Faculty of Social Sciences (FIS). The Department of Sociology was the first and only department under the Faculty of Social Sciences. Now FISIP has seven undergraduate programs (S1), namely, Anthropology, Political Science, Communication, Public Administration, International Relations, Information and Library Science, and Sociology. There are five graduate programs (S2) namely, Sociology, Public Policy, International Relations, Political Science and Media Communications. Social Science Studies Program is one of the majors with the Doctoral Program (S3).
Students and lecturers at FISIP are like partners. They develop a more egalitarian relationship compared with another faculty that is still closely associated to conservatism and feudal attitude. Starting from simplicity, determination and idealism, FISIP has grown its popularity, developing an independent icon in the era of reformation. FISIP Universitas Airlangga is a scientific community and has become a broad tradition, but still maintaining its uniqueness. Speeches, thoughts and writings by students, faculty and all graduates of FISIP Universitas Airlangga are reflections of their critical attitude that can and will never be bought by power.
Thousands of graduates of FISIP Unair have now spread their wings in various regions, touching the lives of others, and building new traditions they inherit from their alma mater. In some of Indonesia’s rural areas, most field officers (PLKB) are FISIP Unair alumni. In the mass media field, FISIP alumnus are not only reliable reporters, respected senior editors, but also Editor-in Chiefs. In bureaucracy field, a pioneer of a variety of activities planning could also be alumni of Social and Political Science. In short, what has been produced and inherited by students from the so called "orange campus" they are almost always beyond time: their minds are more advanced, they have more critical attitude, and some even dare to go against the flow.
For more than 30 years FISIP has grown far beyond expectations since its establishment and has even become an independent icon in the era of reformation. Still, many things must be noted, reviewed and contemplated with a critical stance on the existence of FISIP Unair. As it gets older, FISIP Airlangga not only aims to continue evolving and become more advanced, but it is also expected to be willing to do introspection: looking back on the past and then determining efforts to build a better future.
