Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

You’ll learn practical skills in areas such as first aid, work health and safety (WHS) processes, effective interaction with children, nutritional food provision, childhood development, sustainable practices, appropriate care for babies and children up to 12 years, and responding to young people at risk.

Experienced teachers, who are experts in the field, will guide you through the program, which can be delivered in a variety of ways to fit in with your work or lifestyle.

This nationally recognised qualification may lead to employment in roles such as kindergarten assistant, school aged-care assistant, nanny, family day care carer or early childhood educator assistant. The course can be completed full time over six months.

Buildings A and B form the $85m Frankston Learning and Innovation Precinct, which was officially opened in late 2019. Building B is dedicated to technical trades and has the latest workshop design and fit-out for plumbing, building and carpentry, electrical, electrotechnology and engineering.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have Academic IELTS 5.5 with no band less than 5.0, an Australian Year 12 VCE (or equivalent) or international equivalent qualification., Practical placement requires that students engage professionally with children, families and colleagues often in a fulltime capacity, Practical placement requires that students engage professionally with children, families, and colleagues for a maximum 7.5 hours per day, up to 5 days per week therefore must be capable of spoken English language skills, Students must be 18 years or older and require a current Working with Children check for professional workplace experience (obtained in Australia), Students must be physically capable of sustaining CPR for at least two (2) minutes on the floor., Students must successfully complete a minimum of 160 hours work placement.
