MRes - The History of Africa and the African Diaspora
Full-Time Students will enroll in Introduction to the History of Africa and the African Diaspora (30 credits) and the Research Proposal and Literature Review module (30 credits). These will prepare them for their research project. They will then be allocated a research supervisor to work for the remaining credits by supervised independent research and the writing of their dissertation (120 credits). Full-time students must complete 180 credits over one academic year.
Part-Time students will enroll in year 1 on Introduction to the History of Africa and the African Diaspora (30 credits) in semester 1 and the Research Proposal and Literature Review module (30 credits) in semester 2. Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Postgraduate
Bachelor of Arts / Science / Commerce from a central university, recognised state university
OR
A centre of advanced study, 3 or 4 years duration– Minimum 50% Average percentage of final 2 years result used.
MPhil or PhD
The normal requirement for an MPhil is a good honours degree (First or Upper-Second class) or a relevant Masters degree. For a PhD the normal entry requirement is an MPhil.
Chichester runs a Pre-PhD Research Study Programme whereby applicants register for six tutorials at low cost in order to carry out various feasibility studies, including some testing of interest, materials, methods and resolve.
International applicants need IELTS 6.5 (with no element less than 5.5) for most postgraduate programmes.
(You can join our Pre-Master's programme with IELTS 5.5 and progress to MSc International Business. Social Work and PGCE programmes require IELTS 7.0).
