Safety, Health and Environmental Management MSc

Are you interested in managing the vital issues of safety, health and environmental sustainability?
There’s an increasing need for professionals who can help organisations comply with regulations, undertake environmental impact assessments, identify risks and demonstrate due diligence.

Throughout this Masters course you’ll study key concepts such as risk and sustainability. You’ll also gain the knowledge and skills to be able to make independent professional judgements and contribute effectively to organisational strategies.

The course culminates in either a Masters dissertation or, if you prefer, a work-based project where you’ll tackle an issue faced by a real employer. You will focus on self-development and employability throughout.

The course is dual accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)* and the professional body for everyone working in environment and sustainability the IEMA**

People join from this Masters course from many different backgrounds. You might, for example, have been an undergraduate student in geography, science, engineering, business, law or environmental health.

It is possible to add an Advanced Practice element to this course, making it a two-year Masters qualification.

*This course entitles students to IOSH Student Membership for the duration of their studies and on successful completion you will meet the academic requirements for Graduate (Grad IOSH) membership. Graduate membership is the gateway to Chartered status. As IOSH is the only organisation in the world that offers Chartered membership to health and safety practitioners, they can help you achieve the highest professional standards and gain international recognition.

**This course entitles students to FREE student membership for the duration of the course and on successful completion you qualify for GradIEMA. Graduate membership is a launchpad for future leaders within environment and sustainability and offers a range of benefits to support you throughout your career. You can then “Fast track” to Practitioner Membership (PIEMA) following successful completion of the work-based assessment of competence.
