ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Microbiology at Kingston College of Science is affiliated by West Bengal State University. This department is enriched with good faculty members. Moreover the department is involved in organizing various activities aiming at improving the quality of students and also actively participates in building of career opportunities for the students passing from this institute. Here, the administration arranges various industrial training and seminars for the holistic development of the students.   

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Students pursuing B. Sc. Honours and general courses in microbiology are in great demand to work at pathology labs, science laboratories, teaching and research jobs. Microbiology graduates can undertake Post graduate studies in microbiology for which ample opportunities are available in colleges and Universities of West Bengal and other states of India. Once they complete their course, they can work as microbiologists in industries like pharmaceutical, dairy, breweries, distilleries, enzyme, etc

Microbiologists are people who have specialization in the field of Microbiolgy. They are scientists who study organisms and infectious agents that cannot be seen with the naked eye. They study the interactions of microorganisms with humans and other organisms that exist and affect our lives.

Qualifications specific to job:

• An undergraduate degree in microbiology gives you the opportunity to work at science laboratories and pathology labs.
• If you have a Post Graduate degree in microbiology, you can work in microbiology based industries like pharmacy, dairy, breweries, distilleries, enzyme, etc. and you also can pursue PhD.
• Students who complete PhD can take up teaching at universities and PG colleges. They can also take up a post-doctoral research.

Passed 10+2 standard or its equivalent examination from any recognised board with at least 45% marks in aggregate.
