Further Education and Skills (ESOL and Literacy), PCE

Learn how to teach English speakers of other languages on this ESOL and literacy PCE course. You'll gain over 100 hours of teaching experience, preparing you for a career in further education.

 Our Further Education and Skills (ESOL and Literacy) Professional Certificate in Education (PCE) provides you with the skills to teach literacy and English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) in further education colleges. Placements form an integral part of this course so you will spend a number of days each week at your placement college, gaining a minimum of 100 hours' teaching experience.

On successful completion of this one-year course, you can gain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) professional status from the Education and Training Foundation by submitting a portfolio of evidence.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate Degrees (Bachelor's)

For entry to our four-year extended degree programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 50%
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

For standard entry to our Bachelor's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 60%(70% for Law, Architecture)
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

Some Bachelor's degrees allow advanced entry to year 2 or year 3, depending on your study history.

For advanced entry to Year 2 and Year 3 you will need to complete:

  • Year 1 of a relevant degree with a minimum of 60%
  • Postgraduate Degrees (Master's)
