Equine Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation, BSc Hons (Hadlow)

This degree helps you to support horses in their recovery from injury. It focuses on equine therapy and rehabilitation strategies complementary to those traditionally offered by a vet.

 The equine sports therapy and rehabilitation degree enable you to evaluate, design, and administer treatments to aid recovery. You'll gain an understanding of equine science and physiology, with modules covering professional practice, equine nutrition, equine biomechanics, the science of movement, and herbal medicine. You'll also benefit from the brand-new on-campus facilities and the input from industry experts throughout the syllabus.

By the end of the course, you'll be equipped to enter postgraduate study or to progress into a career as a practitioner in horse physiotherapy.

The course is offered by one of the university's partner colleges: Hadlow College in Kent.

The program will produce vocationally strong students who are capable of employment in equine therapy and rehabilitation, and associated occupations or progressing to a relevant top-up degree.

Careers have included, Groom, Trek Assistant, Assistant Yard Manager, Horse Trainer, Equine Yard Manager, Event Organiser, Riding Instructor, Jockey, Competition Rider, Therapy Centre Assistant, Welfare Officer, Equine Veterinary Nurse.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

For entry to our four-year extended degree programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 50%
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

For standard entry to our Bachelor's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 60%(70% for Law, Architecture)
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements
  • Some Bachelor's degrees allow advanced entry to year 2 or year 3, depending on your study history.

For advanced entry to Year 2 and Year 3 you will need to complete:

  • Year 1 of a relevant degree with a minimum of 60%
  • Postgraduate Degrees (Masters)
