GRAPHIC DESIGN BA (HONS)

Our Graphic Design degree aims to equip you with the skills and theoretical knowledge to work and innovate in the Graphic Design sector and the wider creative industries. By drawing on techniques and expertise from the fields of Design, Fine Art and Art and Design History, the degree is both practically focused and theoretically informed.

The principles of collaboration, innovation and individuality underpin the curriculum and the degree aims to create critical and confident graphic designers that will be ready to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing and increasingly technological sector.

The degree is taught at our Creative Campus, which offers the potential for a wealth of collaborative and multidisciplinary learning experiences. You will learn a variety of approaches to visual communication and gain a thorough understanding of studio practice and the design process, including studio based project work, optional live briefs and work placements in established design studios in the immediate local community the UK and abroad.

In preparation for the world of work, the development of rigorous research skills, theoretical understanding and mastery of a range of both technological and physical tools will be developed. Learning will be underpinned by a thorough understanding of the discipline and its context in contemporary society. Alongside traditional practical and theoretical skills, you will develop a deep understanding of established design principles and develop the ability to engage confidently with current professional practice. By the end of the degree, you will have built a contemporary portfolio that will equip you for an exciting future in the sector.

Creative Campus

Creative Campus is the home to our creative and performing arts degrees. It is based in the city centre of Liverpool and is a constant hive of activity, with teaching, living and social spaces – and an on-site theatre.

Placement Years and the Placement and Internship Programme (PiP)

We’re proud to be able to offer all students the opportunity to add a Placement Year to their degree. We also work with a range of organizations to offer internship and placement opportunities. Getting hands-on experience gives you unique insights into a career and valuable experience when applying for jobs or further study.

Part-time work on campus

We have a variety of jobs on campus that are exclusively for Liverpool Hope students. Work up to 10 hours a week on campus to support yourself while you study, gain experience in the workplace and meet new people.

PSW Opportunity

  • The Graduate Route is a new UK post-study work visa to be introduced for international students graduating in summer 2021 or later. It will allow you to live and work in the UK for up to two years after your degree.
