 Chemistry is an essential science. It impacts everyday life from brewing the perfect cup of tea to sending shuttles into space. Our chemistry degree explores all branches of the discipline, including inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and analytical chemistry. You'll also develop transferable skills that appeal to employers from other sectors, such as business and public service.

The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, the UK's professional body for chemical scientists. First-year students get free membership, and graduates will be able to apply for associate membership. You'll also benefit from our connections with the industry. Our lecturers have held prestigious roles at GSK and Pfizer, and we regularly welcome industry-based guest speakers.

Campus Information

Medway Campus

Medway Campus has a rich naval history. Its red-brick buildings were previously a Royal Navy base. Nelson's flagship HMS Victory was built at Chatham's Historic Dockyard. The campus also has amazing cafés and bars, including those in Pembroke and Pilkington Buildings.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

For entry to our four-year extended degree programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 50%
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

For standard entry to our Bachelor's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 60%(70% for Law, Architecture)
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements
  • Some Bachelor's degrees allow advanced entry to year 2 or year 3, depending on your study history.

For advanced entry to Year 2 and Year 3 you will need to complete:

  • Year 1 of a relevant degree with a minimum of 60%
  • Postgraduate Degrees (Masters)
