Nursing with Leadership Dual Registration Mental Health and Child MSci

Important: The precise content of this course is subject to approval by the Nursing and Midwifery Council in 2020, when the 2018 NMC standards will be implemented, and may change slightly to accommodate this. Details on this page describe the course as studied by the intake of students who started in September 2019.

The NHS needs nurses, nurses work in teams - and those teams need effective leadership. Only one university offers a pre-registration nursing degree with an integrated leadership component: Leicester.

We have partnered with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) to deliver this course. Our degrees draw on more than 40 years of health education as well as the expertise of our School of Business.

Our degrees put leadership at the heart of the curriculum. Throughout your degree you will be offered mentoring by experienced leaders in the nursing profession and the wider NHS.

You’ll also have the opportunity to get hands-on experience. You will spend at least 50% of your time on placements, working alongside experienced nursing and medical staff.

Two pathways
These are dual registration degrees. This means you can choose to concentrate on either adult health and mental health or child health and mental health.

This degree lasts four years, at the end of which you will have the security of employment opportunities in the local NHS.

Student Learning Contract
As part of the offer for a place on this course all students are required to agree to abide by the conditions of a Student Learning Contract (PDF) which you will be asked to sign during the induction week at the beginning of the course. This learning contract will apply to the entire duration of the course and the signed copy will be stored as a PDF on your University electronic record.
