The world prevalence of diabetes amongst adults is increasing year-on-year making diabetes care one of the biggest medical challenges faced by health care professionals globally. This rising epidemic has increased the demand for services from personnel trained to deliver high quality care.

The Leicester Diabetes Centre now forms one of the largest facilities in Europe for conducting first class clinical research, dynamic clinical services and teaching in diabetes. On this distance learning course you will benefit from the specialist knowledge of the experienced and high profile academic staff from the Centre and the University of Leicester. The ongoing research published by the Leicester Diabetes Centre ensures that all the online materials you use will be relevant and up to date.

This degree comprises a range of modules, combining the most topical thinking around clinical care and research in adults with practical examples of how novel research and evidence-based diabetes care can be applied in real life, clinical settings.

The course is studied part-time; it allows you to develop your knowledge of diabetes care and choose topics in which to specialise. You will become part of the Distance Learning Diabetes Community providing the opportunity for networking and sharing best practice.

The course will equip you with the knowledge, confidence and skills to specialise in diabetes care.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

If you have completed the standard XII awarded by the CISCE/CBSE, or another recognised state exam board, with at least 75% overall, you may be considered for admission to a first year Bachelors degree. For many courses at the University of Leicester, you will need 80% overall or higher, along with higher individual marks of 85% in relevant subjects. If you are studying A-levels or the International Baccalaureate (IB) then you can begin from the first year of a Bachelors degree. Please see inidvidual course pages for entry requirements. If you have already completed the first year of an undergraduate degree at an Indian university, you may be considered for entry to the first or second year of a Bachelors degree if you have studied relevant subjects and/or modules. We also have progression arrangements with some partner institutions in India, which allow advance entry to certain University of Leicester courses. Please contact the International Office for further information. If you do not meet the entry requirements for one of our courses, you can apply for an International Foundation Year run by the Global Study Centre. The GSC provides academic support to help you progress to your chosen undergraduate degree at the University of Leicester.
