Diploma in Accounting – Business

Accounting is often referred to as the universal language of business. Durham College’s Accounting – Business program is the next step towards a career in the field of accounting. Learning from industry-connected professors, you will develop your knowledge of accounting using the latest tools and technology in order to gain the skills employers need. You will be exposed to QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50 and Profile. You will also have the opportunity to earn Microsoft Office specialist certifications.

SEPTEMBER OR JANUARY START

  • You may enter Year 1 of the Business or Business Administration program in September or January; and
  • If you begin classes in January, you will complete semesters 1 and 2 from January to August and start Year 2, Semester 3 immediately (in September)

MAY START

This program is offered in a consecutive format (16 months) from May until the following August. If you begin classes in May, you will complete semester 2 in September, semester 3 in January and semester 4 in May.

  •    You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.

If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.

For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.

If your program was 2 years or more

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

If you completed more than 1 program

  •    You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed -

  • must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

FOR INDIA

One of the following:

  • All India Senior School Certificated awarded by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  • Indian School Certificate awarded by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
  • Year 10 and 12 State Board Exams
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)/Intermediary Certificate/Statement of Marks

Please note: school record is not sufficient.

FOR BANGLADESH

  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)/Intermediate Certificate in arts, science or commerce/certificate issued by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) 0 Level. Requires a minimum of five academic subjects, including English, with a grade of C.

FOR NEPAL

  • Higher Secondary School Certificate/Proficiency Certificate/ Mark Sheets.

FOR SRILANKA

One of the following:

  • Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education (Advanced level) GCE A Level, results showing at least five subjects
  • passed with a minimum grade A, B or C.
  • Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education (Ordinary level) GCE O Level, showing at least five subjects passed with a minimum grade A, B, C and D (Distinction).
