Photography and Video BA (Hons)

The first year includes modules in Photography, Moving Image, Contextual Studies and Digital Media. Visits to exhibitions and study trips in the UK and abroad allow you to develop your knowledge and passion for your subject. Work experience is embedded in the second year with a live external client brief.

You will begin to develop a specialist area of study through creative practice-based projects, and develop your technical skills in a series of craft workshops, all supported by academic research. There will be the opportunity to meet guest lecturers from the creative industries and arts which will bring the commercial and artistic practice to life. In the third year create your own unique portfolio of work; show off your creative vision and talent. Develop your professional skills base and take the initiative to get involved in external exhibition.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Entry criteria

Typical entry requirements 

A good portfolio and normally:

  • Art and Design Foundation or
  • 112 points from at least 2 A-levels and including grade C in Art and Design or
  • BTEC Extended Diploma DMM in an Art and Design related subject or
  • International Baccalaureate: 26+ Points including Art and Design

Plus five GCSEs grades 9-4 including English Language or Literature at grade 4 or above.

  • Pass Access with 30 Level 3 credits at Merit in Art and Design and GCSE English (Language or Literature) at grade 4 or above

We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course.

  • We also accept the BTEC First Diploma plus two GCSEs including English Language or Literature at grade 4 or above

India

  • Minimum of 65% average in your four best subjects (excluding Hindi) in Standard 12. We may also check your standard 10 results in English and Maths.

2nd year - 3rd-year Undergraduate:

  • 55-65% in three A-levels, depending on the course you choose.

Interview and Portfolio

UK applicants with relevant qualifications will be invited to bring their portfolio of work to an open day and interview. Overseas applicants will be invited to send samples of their work.
