Graphic Design (Illustration) BA (Hons)

This course will give you practical skills in a wide range of specialist areas of professional interactive graphic design. You will work on a series of major personal projects to build your portfolio and professional skills, including undertaking live briefs from the design industry. This industry-focused course ensures you will experience what it takes to be a successful interactive graphic designer and graduate with a portfolio demonstrating your capabilities and talents.

This course is designed for those with a specific interest in the cutting edge digital arts. Our well established Graphic Design courses focus more on traditional and core design skills such as editorial design, image-making or advertising, whilst this programme focuses on pushing the conventions of digital applications and user experiences through a hands-on approach in communicating visual solutions and spaces to a wide audience.

They work throughout the graphic communication sector as staff designers, consultants or freelancers, in areas such as information, advertising, promotional design, and interactive and multimedia design.

This course is designed to lead into global careers in UX (User Experience) Design, UI (User Interface) design, web design and development, app design, graphic design, animation and motion graphics.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Entry criteria

  • Normally 104 UCAS points from at least two A-levels or equivalent, with Art and Design at grade C or above or
  • Art and Design BTEC National Diploma/ Extended Diploma at DMM

Plus five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English or equivalent.

Alternative qualifications include:

  • Pass in the QAA accredited Access to HE Art and Design course with at least 15 credits in Art and Design at merit. English GCSE required as a separate qualification as equivalency is not accepted within the Access qualification. We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course or
  • International Baccalaureate: 24+ Points including Art and Design at higher level grade 5 or
  • Art and Design Foundation Diploma: Pass

Portfolio Required: You will also need a good portfolio according to the course guidelines as part of your application

Interview Required: No

We welcome applications from mature students with non-standard qualifications and recognize all other equivalent and international qualifications

  • Minimum of 65% average in your four best subjects (excluding Hindi) in Standard 12. We may also check your standard 10 results in English and Maths.
