LLB (Hons) Law Online - (3 year)

If you are looking to pursue a career in the legal or wider commercial sector, but require greater flexibility in study patterns and wish to study 100% online, then this is the degree for you. A Qualifying Law Degree, the course has a practical focus, with employability integrated into the course.

3 year course - the course starts in September with a one week induction which is conducted online. There are two semesters per academic year - each semester is 15 weeks long, with 12 weeks tuition, one week consolidation/revision and two weeks to complete assessments. You will study three modules per semester.(The 3 year programme is full time and you will need to study for 40 hours per week).

There is a high level of interaction and you will receive peer and one-to-one professional tutor review, with over 90% of our tutors being qualified solicitors and barristers.The course will deliver an insight into critical legal topics and develop knowledge and understanding of key concepts in a practical environment. You will develop analysis, research, problem-solving and communication skills.

This degree will complete the academic stage of training for those wishing to qualify as a solicitor or barrister and provides the foundation for Masters degrees, or you can move into employment within the wider legal sector and other commercial/business fields. The University of Law has a track record of success with 92% of our full-time LLB students graduating in 2017 securing employment or further study within six months of successfully completing their course.

COURSE STRUCTURE

4 year course - the course starts in September with a one week induction which is conducted online. There are two semesters per academic year - each semester is 15 weeks long, with 12 weeks tuition, one week consolidation/revision and two weeks to complete the assessments. You will study two modules per semester. You will also have to study one module over the summer, between Year 3 and 4 and during the summer at the end of Year 4. This module will be studied over six weeks with one week consolidation and one week for assessment.

4.5 year course - the course starts in January with an induction week, which is conducted online. The first academic year covers twenty calendar months, January to August of the following year, with 15 months of study over four semesters. During this period one module is studied at a time, sequentially.  In the following academic years you will study two modules per semester.  In Years 2, 3 and 4, there are two main semesters per academic year. Each semester is 15 weeks long, with 12 weeks tuition, one week consolidation/revision and two weeks to complete the assessments. Students will study one module over the summer between Years 3 and 4 and during the summer at the end of Year 4.  This module will be studied over six weeks with one week consolidation and one week for assessment. Each year is made up of two semesters consisting of 12 teaching weeks and one week consolidation/revision and two weeks to complete assessments. You will study a total of 18 modules over the four years of the course.(For the 4 and 4.5 year programmes, please allow 20 – 25 hours of study per week).

6 year course - the course starts in September with a one week induction which is conducted online. There are two semesters per academic year - each semester is 15 weeks long, with 12 weeks tuition, one week consolidation/revision and two weeks to complete the assessments. You will study one full subject per semester, and one subject split over both semesters that is then assessed at the end of Semester 2. (For the part time 6 year programme, please allow 10-15 hours of study per week).

Entry requirements

  • A-Level: BBB
  • GCSE: English Language Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent

UK Entry Requirements

  • 48 UCAS Points from a maximum of 3 A-Levels, or equivalent qualifications
  • GCSE English Language at Grade C/4

You will also be invited to an interview with an academic as part of the admissions process, which will take place online.

Non-standard application route

If you have no or limited formal qualifications you will be invited to complete an in-house literacy test at one of our campuses (for those without GCSE English Language at grade C/4), as well as a formal face-to-face interview. You will also need to provide 2 years of appropriate work experience evidenced by a full CV and one reference.
