Sports Therapy, BSc (Hons)
The BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree programme gives you the opportunity to study the theoretical and practical 'hands-on' skills necessary to provide the best care, management and rehabilitation for the sports and recreational participant back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness.
The course is underpinned by the study of theoretical concepts and knowledge in the fields of physiology, psychology, pathology, exercise rehabilitation and manual therapies. There will be an emphasis on the use of manual therapy, massage and sports specific exercise as therapeutic components of a rehabilitation programme.
Key features of the course
- Access to research expertise in professional football, rugby and clinic-based environments
- Placement opportunities with OVER 80 different sports teams across the country from grassroots to elite level.
- Examples of some placement links are; Wigan Warriors, Everton FC, PNE, Blackpool FC, St Helens RFC, Burnley FC, Warrington Wolves and Wakefield Wildcats.
- Through completing this course you will also gain and external qualification for RFU level 2 Emergency First Aid, and gain a VTCT Level 4 Sports Massage Therapy qualification.
- Gain experience through working in our Student-Led Sports Therapy Clinic at the Preston Campus – a fully-functional injury clinic with the availability of the movement analysis lab for patient rehabilitation.
