MSc Climate Change and Development
Our MSc Climate Change and Development addresses the challenges of global environmental change and economic development
This course integrates natural and social science of climate change and applies cutting-edge, transdisciplinary "ecological economics" tools to the subject. As a result, you will undergo excellent preparation for work in aid and development agencies, NGOs and government departments.
In addition to the MSc Climate Change and Development course, we also offer the subject as a PG Diploma or PG Certificate, with the full-time option delivered over six months and the part-time option over two periods of six months.
On joining this course, you will become a member of the School's Graduate Institute of International Development, Agriculture and Economics (GIIDAE). As a GIIDAE student, you will have the option of undertaking a placement during the summer period, however this is not a requirement of the degree.
Class sizes vary by subject and module, but emphasis is always placed on good contact time with lecturers. Learning occurs across a variety of lectures, seminars, tutorials and field trips.
Excellent opportunities exist for research, networking and personal development within each programme, as well as access to first-class study resources and employability support.
The School also hosts the Walker Institute, which specialises in climate systems research, and has many active researchers working at the interface of climate change and international development. These researchers represent a variety of disciplines spanning natural and social sciences, including agriculture, development studies, ecology and economics.
